http://iredmail.org/wiki/index.php?titl … be.Webmail

About the zero day vulnerability, please refer to this thread:
http://lists.roundcube.net/pipermail/de … 22328.html

P.S. I re-packed iRedMail-0.8.4 with roundcubemail-0.8.6, so if you're going to setup a new iRedMail server, you don't need to worry about this vulnerability.

Hotfix for iRedMail-0.8.4: Incorrect logrotate config file of iRedAPD

$
0
0
Issue description

There's an typo error in logrotate config file of iRedAPD (/etc/logrotate.d/iredapd) on all Linux distributions supported by iRedMail, it causes program "logrotate" cannot rotate iRedAPD log file (/var/log/iredapd.log) at all. The potential risk is that the log file may takes too much disk space if it grows quickly.

Impacted iRedMail versions
  • Version iRedMail-0.8.4, downloaded before Apr 6, 2013.

Notes:

  • You can see a timestamp in file /etc/logrotate.d/iredapd, that shows when you installed iRedMail. e.g. "File generated by iRedMail (2013.04.03.11.40.51)" (format is YEAR.MONTH.DAY.HOUR.MINUTE.SECOND).

  • We re-packed iRedMail-0.8.4 on Apr 6, 2013, so there's no need to fix it if you downloaded iRedMail-0.8.4 after that day, which means you can safely ignore this hotfix.

Impacted Linux/BSD distributions

It impacts all LINUX distributions supported by iRedMail, but not BSD distributions since they use different logrotate config file.

How to fix it

Please fix it manually by following below steps:

  • Open /etc/logrotate.d/iredapd with your favorite text editor (e.g. vi, vim, emacs), find below line:

/var/log/iredapd.log
  • Append a whitespace and a '{':

/var/log/iredapd.log {
  • You can now verify this config file with command "logrotate" like below, it will print debug message on terminal.

# logrotate -d /etc/logrotate.d/iredapd

That's all.

Notes:

  • All uses who installed iRedMail-0.8.4 which ships iRedAPD-1.4.0 before Apr 13, 2013 should apply this hotfix.

  • All users who upgraded iRedAPD to the latest 1.4.0 should apply this hotfix.

  • We re-packed iRedMail-0.8.4 on Apr 13, 2013, so there's no need to fix it if you downloaded iRedMail-0.8.4 after that day, which means you can safely ignore this hotfix.

Impacted Linux/BSD distributions

SENDER_SEARCH_ATTRLIST = ['mailBlacklistedRecipient', 'mailWhitelistRecipient']

  • Remove characters 'ed' in it (Remove 'ed' in mailBlacklistedRecipient).

SENDER_SEARCH_ATTRLIST = ['mailBlacklistRecipient', 'mailWhitelistRecipient']
  • Restart iRedAPD service.

# /etc/init.d/iredapd restart

Notes:
*) On FreeBSD, please execute "/usr/local/etc/rc.d/iredapd restart" instead.
*) On OpenBSD, please execute "/etc/rc.d/iredapd restart" instead.

Drop support for RHEL/CentOS 5 in upcoming iRedMail release?

$
0
0

Dear all,

We plan to drop support for RHEL/CentOS 5 in upcoming iRedMail release. Here
"drop support" means doesn't support NEW installation on it, not stop supporting
iRedMail servers which still running on it.

Two questions to help me understand what the situation is:

*) Are you guys still prefer RHEL/CentOS 5 for NEW mail server?
*) Which version of RHEL/CentOS are you running?

Here's our tracking since iRedMail-0.8.4 which was released on March 26, 2013:

Installations <-> Distribution and Release Version

3305 CentOS 6
731  CentOS 5
147 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
137 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
41   Scientific Linux 6
3    Scientific Linux 5

P.S. Upcoming iRedMail release will use EPEL yum repo on RHEL/CentOS 6 by default,
but not on RHEL/CentOS 5, because packages in EPEL for RHEL/CentOS 5 is really out
of date. Looks like upstream has no plan to bring it up to date. And RHEL 5 is in
End of Production life cycle:
https://access.redhat.com/support/polic … es/errata/

We should drop support for it to reduce our workload and bring you better support for
RHEL/CentOS 6.

== UPDATE (Jun 12, 2013) ==

Support for below distribution releases will be dropped in upcoming iRedMail release:

  • Ubuntu 12.10. Please use Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS edition, code name "precise") or 13.04 (code name "raring") instead.

  • RHEL/CENTOS 5. Please use RHEL/CENTOS 6 instead. RHEL 5 is in End of Production life cycle: https://access.redhat.com/support/polic … es/errata/

  • OpenBSD 5.1 and 5.2. Please use the latest stable release, 5.3. According to OpenBSD development cycle, only the latest release will be supported by iRedMail. More information on the development cycle can be found here: http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq5.html#Flavors. P.S. M:Tier has a new package repository which includes the latest security fixes and critical updates for OpenBSD since 5.3: http://stable.mtier.org/

  • openSUSE 12.1 and 12.2. Please use the latest stable release, 12.3.

iRedMail-0.8.5 has been released

$
0
0

Dear all,

iRedMail-0.8.5 has been released. This is a bug fix release.

You cannot install iRedMail-0.8.5 on below Linux/BSD distribution releases
  • Ubuntu 12.10. Please use 12.04 (LTS) or 13.04 instead.

  • RHEL/CentOS 5. Please use RHEL/CentOS 6 instead. RHEL 5 is in End of Production life cycle, we have to drop support for it to reduce our workload and bring you better support for RHEL/CentOS 6: https://access.redhat.com/support/polic … es/errata/

  • OpenBSD 5.1, 5.2. Please use OpenBSD-5.3 instead.

  • openSUSE 12.1, 12.2. Please use openSUSE-12.3 instead.

NOTES:

  • Drop support means you cannot install new iRedMail server on them, but we will continue supporting iRedMail servers which still running on RHEL/CentOS 5.

  • We will drop support for Debian 6 (squeeze) in next iRedMail release, and we recommend all Debian users choose the latest stable release Debian 7 (wheezy) for iRedMail. According to Debian web site: Debian 6 is the current old stable release, "The (Debian) security team tries to support a stable distribution for about one year after the next stable distribution has been released, except when another stable distribution is released within this year. It is not possible to support three distributions; supporting two simultaneously is already difficult enough."

  • We will drop support for Gentoo Linux in next iRedMail release, because just few users are running Gentoo Linux for iRedMail.

  • Maybe you will say why not drop support for OpenBSD, it has few users too. but it's my favourite Unix distribution, i will continue supporting it.

Improvements
  • Use EPEL yum repo on RHEL/CentOS 6 by default. Details about EPEL repo: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL

  • Add SQL trigger to insert value for column 'used_quota.domain' automatically, so that we can easily calculate per-domain used mailbox quota.

  • Able to assign mail alias as member of another mailing alias on MySQL/PostgreSQL backends. NOTE: This is implemented in OpenLDAP backend.

  • New SQL column and LDAP attribute for mail domain, used to store default preferred language for newly created mail users.

It also fixes some issues:
  • Incorrect Amavisd column name: policy.unchecked_lovers_maps (incorrect) -> policy.unchecked_lover.

  • Incorrect LDAP ACL for attribute "memberOfGroup". Thanks Hoang Tuan Viet <vietht _at_ vccloud.vn> for the report.

Package update:
  • Roundcube webmail -> 0.9.2

  • phpMyAdmin -> 4.0.4

  • iRedAdmin -> 0.2.2

  • iRedAPD -> 1.4.1

  • phpPgAdmin -> 5.1

Dear all,

During upgrading process, we found SQL backup script (/var/vmail/backup/backup_mysql.sh, /var/vmail/backup/backup_pgsql.sh) set up by iRedMail-0.8.4 and earlier versions don't backup "vmail" database which stores all mail accounts. so please check this script on your iRedMail server, make sure you have "vmail" database listed in variable 'DATABASES'.

export DATABASES='... vmail ...'

So sorry about this bug, please fix it immediately.

Affected iRedMail versions and backends

This bug exists in iRedMail-0.8.4 and earlier versions, both MySQL and PostgreSQL backends.

NOTE: This bug was fixed in iRedMail-0.8.5 which released on July 15.

Hi!
I updated my server with Debian Squeeze to Wheezy.
Then consistently updated iRedMail c 0.8.3 to 0.8.4, and then began to perform the upgrade to version 0.8.5.
Encounter the following difficulties.
1) In the section "Fix incorrect ACL for attribute "memberOfGroup".
You between the parameters of a space after the comma -
access to attrs="memberOfGroup, employeeNumber, ..." .

iRedMail-0.8.6 has been released

Dear all,

iRedMail-0.8.6 has been released. This is a bug fix release.

iRedMail-0.8.6 works on several new Linux/BSD distribution releases
  • Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy). NOTE: phpLDAPadmin is not available for OpenLDAP backend because it cannot be installed at all.

  • OpenBSD 5.4, plus Awstats support.

iRedMail-0.8.6 drops support for below Linux/BSD distribution releases
  • Debian 6 (squeeze). Please use Debian 7 (wheezy) instead.

  • OpenBSD 5.3. Please use OpenBSD 5.4 (released on 2013-11-01) instead.

iRedMail-0.8.6 drops support for below Linux distributions (we describe why we drop them at the bottom)
  • Gentoo Linux.

  • openSUSE Linux

Improvements
  • Better support for installing iRedMail with remote MySQL server. Reference: http://www.iredmail.org/wiki/index.php? … sql.server

  • Enable 'innodb_file_per_table' (per-table tablespaces) in MySQL by default, this parameter avoids large ibdata files (.idb). Reference: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.5/en/ … paces.html

  • Enable Opportunistic TLS support in Postfix when sending mail to remote SMTP server (smtp_tls_security_level=may). Thanks kotso <admin _at_ co.ge> and vlastikcz for the report.

  • Switch from Policyd-1.8 to Cluebringer on all Linux/BSD distributions. NOTE: The latest iRedAdmin-Pro supports Cluebringer management, includes white/black/greylisting, per-domain and per-user throttling.

  • Add parameter ‘inet6 => 0' in Amavisd ldap settings to avoid ldap connection error. NOTE: it’s not necessary to add this on running iRedMail server.

Fixed issues
  • Not detect backupmx status in SQL/LDAP query for domain transport.

  • Not setup cron job to cleanup expired entries in Cluebringer database.

Updated packages
  • iRedAPD -> 1.4.2. Fixed a bug in plugin sql_user_restrictions.py.

  • iRedAdmin -> 0.3. Use python source file as config file.

  • Roundcube webmail -> 0.9.5

  • phpMyAdmin -> 4.0.10

Why drop support for Gentoo and openSUSE
  • Just few users chose them, so we decided to drop it to reduce our workload and bring you better support for other supported Linux/BSD distributions.

  • openSUSE encourages users to manage system with YaST, that’s fine, and YaST is great. The problem is openSUSE splits software config files into multiple files, and adds many addition files/parameters to make it work with YaST, for example, /etc/sysconfig/*, /etc/apache2/. It’s hard to, and i’m tired to manage config files with command line on openSUSE. It requires too many small hacks to make softwares (required by iRedMail) work like on other Linux distributions, especially Postfix. I believe /etc/init.d/postfix and /usr/sbin/config.postfix are over-designed, they SUCK. Please don’t do too much for your users.
